Your first session will begin with a comprehensive consultation, where we’ll discuss your health history, current concerns, and treatment goals. I’ll take the time to listen closely and ask questions about how your body is feeling — both physically and emotionally. Afterward, I will insert thin, single-use acupuncture needles at specific points to restore balance in your body. The process is deeply relaxing, and many patients report feeling calm and grounded during and after their treatment.

Acupuncture works through the principles of Classical Chinese Medicine, which views the body as an interconnected whole, where Qi (vital energy), blood, and body fluids circulate through channels (meridians). Acupuncture restores balance by stimulating specific points along these meridians, which correspond to various organs and systems within the body.
The insertion of needles at these points activates the body's intrinsic healing mechanisms, encouraging the movement of Qi and blood, resolving blockages, and harmonizing the flow of energy. This process not only addresses symptoms but also works at a deeper level to treat underlying imbalances in the body’s energetic systems.
From a scientific perspective, acupuncture influences the autonomic nervous system (ANS), regulating its function and supporting homeostasis. Studies show that acupuncture promotes the release of endorphins and neuropeptides, which help reduce pain, regulate stress hormones, and restore emotional balance. By stimulating acupuncture points, the body’s natural healing response is initiated, leading to improved circulation, immune function, and overall vitality.
Acupuncture, therefore, not only treats the physical manifestations of illness but also addresses the energetic disturbances that underlie chronic conditions. This holistic approach supports long-term health by encouraging the body to return to its optimal state of balance.

Acupuncture needles are very thin — much thinner than needles used for injections or blood draws — so most patients feel little to no discomfort. You may experience a mild tingling, warmth, or heaviness at the needle site, which signals that your body is responding to the treatment. It is typically a very subtle and relaxing sensation.

The number of treatments needed depends on your individual condition and goals. For acute issues, such as pain or injury, improvement is often seen in just a few sessions. For chronic conditions or long-term wellness, regular treatments over a period of weeks or months are recommended to help maintain lasting results. During your first session, we’ll discuss a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

To get the most out of your acupuncture session, it’s helpful to:
Avoid heavy meals right before your treatment and arrive well-hydrated.
Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing.
After your session, rest as much as you can for the first few hours, and drink plenty of water to support your body’s healing process.
Many patients feel a sense of relaxation after treatment, though some may feel energized.

Yes, I offer pediatric acupuncture for children of all ages. Pediatric treatments are gentle and tailored to their needs, often using fewer and thinner needles. For younger children or those sensitive to needles, I may incorporate acupressure or gentle massage. Common concerns I treat in children include sleep issues, digestive problems, allergies, colds, and emotional balance. Typically, I recommend 4-6 weekly sessions of 30-45 minutes as a starting point.
